Forgotten Friend called Reading

I was once feeling lonesome, with nobody to give me company and me only being nine years old had no means of going out on my own. After roaming around aimlessly and sulking I came across a book left behind by one of my cousins. I picked it up and started leafing through the pages and unknown to myself opened the gateway to a companionship which would last me my entire life. Coming across this book was the beginning of my joyous journey of reading and the end of my sole dependence on people for companionship.

Some children are encouraged to read by their parents in order to improve their speaking and writing prowess, while for some it remains a hobby but for many it turns into a passion from a very young age. Years go by, children reach adulthood yet the pleasure they derive out of reading remains unchanged. Their choice of books keep changing due to age, changes in lifestyle, yet reading remains an intrinsic part of their existence.

It helps us unwind and soon we feel strong enough to face the world again.

A book is often the solace that we require when we are feeling despondent, as for a while we forget our woes and get utterly immersed in the lives of the characters that we are reading about. It helps us unwind and soon we feel strong enough to face the world again.

For the avid readers collecting books over the years, their collection is the most cherished treasure and they guard it jealousy.Simply going through the collection besides giving a sense of pride also evokes memories, as they recall the respective moments when the various books were purchased.

Abilities like grammatical sense, vocabulary, and most importantly the inclination to draft even a basic document without the help of the internet.

Reading is no doubt a declining hobby and unfortunately with it we have also allowed some of our basic abilities to decline. Undoubtedly one cannot refute the irreplaceable utility of technology but utter dependence on it is not advisable, as at times even for the simplest of assignments we feel our hands are tied, unless the internet comes to our rescue.

Reading branching out into fiction, biographies, memoirs, true stories, self-help and more continues to provide unconditional companionship to the avid readers and for them the pleasure derived while reading a book, with a captivating subject still surpasses any other form of recreation.
