The purest form of love is what we feel for our creator. Our love for him makes us stronger, fills us with inner serenity and joy, while his love for us provides solace in our hour of despondency and he helps us in unexpected ways.

We love our Holy Prophet (PBUH) and are enamored of his way of life. We try to express our reverence by trying to emulate his lifestyle and get immense satisfaction when we manage to do so, even in a very small measure.

We love our siblings, our friends and even the animals that we choose to nurture.

As we grow we form relationships and most of them are based on love or on some form of affection. We love our siblings, our friends and even the animals that we choose to nurture. The unconditional love and devotion with which a dog looks at us is so wholesome that it fills us with inner warmth and is indeed priceless.

Though love in itself is a very pure and undiluted emotion, it comes with its own baggage and at times life seems more complicated due to our loving somebody. In case of love, as in case of other emotions a sense of balance needs to be maintained, because love if unreined can lead to emotions like jealousy and obsession.

Love in a romantic relationship is very fulfilling, as while adding the much needed color to life, it also fills a void which is essential for living an enriched life and those finding a soul mate consider themselves fortunate. However at times our love for somebody can be so unbridled that we lose all sense of proportion and put ourselves totally at the mercy of the loved one, even losing our own identity and self-respect in the process. Total and unrestrained emotional surrender can have undesirable repercussions, as it can lead to the loved one feeling incarcerated and beginning to look upon the relationship as a responsibility and not a joy. Spontaneity and a sense of freedom are what keeps romantic love alive.

One can understand why since the beginning of time poetry has been revolving around love and why poets mostly derived their inspiration from this emotion. A renowned Poet like John Keats experiencing heartbreak in love, expressed feelings with unmatched poignancy in verse and Allama Iqbal’s unforgettable verses stemmed out of his profound love for God.
